I don’t need to tell you that your dog beds for large dogs are bigger bed than a little dog, but there are a few things that you might not have thought about yet.
You see, when your getting dog beds for large dogs you have to think about how much space its going to take up and therefore you need to think about where your going to put it!
There is more than just a size issue when it comes to getting a bed for a large dog. You need to take into consideration the space that you have for your dogs bed, the type of bed that will suit your dog the best, where your planning to put the bed and what types of materials it should be made of.
If you don’t want your large dog to take over your bed then you will need to think about these things before you buy a dog pet bed.
The first thing you should think about is the size of your dog and the position that it sleeps in. Remember that its better to have a dog bed that’s a little too big than one that’s a little too small.
If your dog is still young then it might not be full grown just yet so you might want to get a bed that’s still too big for it. Take a measurement of your dog while its standing and while its laying down, this will start to give you an idea of how big of a bed your going to need.
Now take a good look at your dog while it's asleep. Is your dog the type that will stretch out or curl up? A dog that curls up to sleep will prefer a round shaped bed to a rectangle shaped bed.
If your dog is the type that likes to stretch out then the long rectangle shape will be preferred. Should your dog like to have its head propped up then you might want to look for a large dog bed that has sides to it.
Once you have figured out what type of dog bed you need it's time to think about where your planning on putting it. Your going to want to make sure that your dog has enough room to move around in its new extra large bed with out bumping into things, but at the same time make sure that your going to put it in a place your dog will want to sleep.
Dogs are very protective by nature and large dogs like to be able to move around at night. I am not saying that they are going to want to patrol your house, but they will want to get up and move around at some point.
Because of their protective instincts you may find that your dog will be more comfortable if you put its oversized dog bed near a door.
Should you find that your living room will be the best location for your dogs bed then you may also want to think about the appearance of the bed. If you have green couches it would look silly to get an orange dog bed and put it in the living room.
Your dogs bed for large dogs is a piece of furniture and just like if you were buying a new recliner you will need to make sure that it goes with the rest of your home.
Not only that but should you get one of these huge dog beds for large dogs that look and feel like a piece of furniture, your dog may be more willing to use it.
